Do you have performance opportunities?
Premier Dance School offers students several opportunities to perform during the course of the year. At the end of the fall semester, for parents and friends, the school offers a demonstration period where the students present their technique and artistic achievements at the Studio. At the end of the Spring semester all students are offered to participate in our End-Of-The-Year performance, which is always a professional production presented at a local theatre venue. (Please see our calendar for dates, schedule and location). Some students or classes may be offered an opportunity to participate in dance competitions or community performances.
Is there a deadline for registration or is it ongoing?
Registration is ongoing throughout the school year based on placement and class availability. You may register for classes at any time. For more information please click here
How do I know what level to register my child for?
Students ages 3-7 are automatically placed according to their age in a specific level. Beginning at age 8, students are placed based on their age, skill and experience. In order to evaluate the skill level of a student a free, placement class is offered. Please arrange for a placement class with a faculty member.
How many classes must my child take a week?
All students must take at least one class per week to be a part of our program. We encourage all students, age eight and older to take two or more classes weekly to ensure maximum benefit from their training. It is recommended, but not mandatory. Each student may consult a faculty member about choosing the most optimal program.
If I join a class in the middle of the academic month/year, will my tuition be prorated?
Yes. We will prorate your tuition according to the time of your admittance to our program.
If I paid for a semester/year in full, but decide to leave the program, will I receive a refund for unused class time?
Yes, Withdrawals can be made in writing by the 10th of the month in which the student will withdraw. The tuition installment for only that month will be charged in full, the rest will be refunded.
When should my daughter go on pointe?
This is one of the most popular questions of all. All female dancers aspire to wear pointe shoes and it can only be based on the individual dancer’s progress and physical structure. The bones of a young dancer are too soft and malleable before the age of ten to begin pointe work. Long lasting damage can occur in the legs and back if the dancer begins pointe work before her body is ready. A dancer is ready for pointe work when she has built enough strength in the feet, legs and abdominal muscles to sustain the technical demands classical ballet places on the anatomy.
If I miss a class, will I receive a refund for that class time?
No transfers, credits or cash refunds will be given for missed classes. Exceptions can be made in extraneous circumstances supported by a note from a doctor, etc.
What is your average class size?
Minimum 6 people, maximum 12-15.
Do all students have to participate in the End-Of-The-Year production?
No, participation is optional. However, we ask all students to notify us, in advance, of their decision to abstain from participation.
If my child participates in the End-Of-The-Year production, do I have to buy tickets?
We do not require parents to attend the production. We also do not require parents to buy a certain amount of tickets, as practiced in many dance schools. However we assume that it is the natural inclination of all parents to provide a supportive environment for their children during the performance as well as show support for our school by attending the show. If you would like to watch the performance, you must buy a ticket.
